Laser Cut Hypotube

Duke Extrusion provides laser cut hypotube that offers increased flexibility, better torque characteristics, or a combination of both for catheter applications. Laser cutting can also be used to limit axial stretch. Using a variety of cut patterns, we can vary the flexibility and torque properties along the length of the tube to meet your specifications.

Laser cut hypotube is particularly useful in large diameter catheters with ultra-thin wall requirements, as well as angioplasty balloons and coronary balloons. They are typically provided with polymer and/or hydrophilic coatings, to improve lubricity and overall performance.

Polymer ends can extend beyond the laser cut surfaces to provide atraumatic tips on the distal end and better attachment to metal components or other polymers on the proximal end.

Our laser cut hypotube can be combined with PTFE liners, multi-durometer jackets, and channels within the wall of the tubing to provide for deflectable tip catheters.

Laser cut hypotube offers performance similar to coil reinforced tubing or braid reinforced tubing. Each reinforcement method offers advantages that may make it more suitable for your application. Duke can recommend the best reinforcement method for your needs, with consideration to performance, cost, and other factors.
